My name is Caleb Hiatt. My mom, Annette Hiatt recently passed away from metastatic breast cancer (MBC). My mother was diagnosed in November 1991 with breast cancer. She was just 34 years old. She had a lumpectomy, chemo and radiation. When she went for her 5-year mammogram, at age 39, she was again diagnosed with breast cancer in the same breast. She had a mastectomy and chemo. A little over twenty years later she had difficulty breatding, chest pains, a cough that wouldn’t go away, and everything was difficult. She ended up in the ER and was diagnosed with MBC. My mother lived every day to the fullest, she continued to thrive everyday despite living with this terminal illness and being in hospice. She was a pillar to the community and a light to all those around her. She exemplifies what it meant to be a thriver. Thrivers’ monster mile costume 5k and fun run is being held in her honor and memory. Please consider sponsoring, donating or adopting a thriver.
