Kim’s Metaribbon Challenge
Over the past year I have lost my cousin Karina, my sister Tiffany and my dear friends Monica and Amanda from metastatic breast cancer. I didn’t know it was possible for my heart to break into so many pieces. But it continues to break every time I see a beautiful friend ripped from their family because of this disease. It continues to break every time I instinctively reach for the phone to call my sister and suddenly realize I can’t.
Over 40,000 people die of mbc every year. Imagine a plane suddenly falling from the sky every single day. 116 people dying every day in the U.S alone. Where is the outrage?
Did you know the average life expectancy is only 2-3 years once you are metastatic? That metastatic breast cancer is the number 1 leading cancer death in women under 40? Tiff was 35 when she was handed this death sentence. She did everything right and she still died.
It is infuriating that only 5 percent of all breast cancer funding currently goes to metastatic research, yet metastatic breast cancer is the only breast cancer that kills. We don’t need more pink ribbons and early awareness campaigns. We need real MBC research and clinical trials that can extend the life of someone with MBC.
Metavivor is working to enact real change. This 501c3 organization is the only organization that gives 100 percent of every dollar donated to doctor and peer reviewed metastatic research grants and trials. Advancements from research and clinical trials is the only way we can turn this deadly disease into a chronic one.
For my birthday, it would mean the world to me if you made a donation to Metavivor. There isn’t anything in the world I wouldn’t do or give to have another day with my sister. Please help me honor Tiff by continuing her work to help the next person fighting MBC.
100% of your donation to METAvivor will fund critical research for metastatic breast cancer treatment.
